Case Study Health Outcome Measures New Developments | Published Date : 01:43PM 19 Sep 2007Physio balls have been around for some time now, but confusion surrounds what they can be used for and the benefits of using the ball are often unclear.
The physio ball is an inflatable, air filled ball that can be used for strengthening the muscles of the trunk, pelvis and back .
The ball can also be used for stretching and mobilising the spine and extremities.
People suffering from low back pain and weakness, general back stiffness and poor posture can all benefit from use of the physio ball.
Physio balls are portable and can be used in any number of different settings including the home, office or gym.

| Back Drape | Side Stretch | Simply replacing your office chair with a physio ball is an easy way to commence strengthening the postural muscles that support the spine.
Over time, sitting on the ball can reduce back pain and alleviate stiffness.
It is important that physio ball exercises are prescribed and monitored by a health professional such as your physio to ensure correct technique. Exercises performed incorrectly can aggravate spinal pain.
For more information about the benefits of using the physio ball, please speak to one of our physiotherapists.
